Onmyoji, The Yin Yang Master [Book I]: Chapter I
Onmyōji 陰陽師 yin-yang shi 夢枕 獏 Yumemakura Baku Welcome! This is a fan translation of the first novel in the Onmyoji series, the books behind the movies [Yin Yang Master Dream of Eternity, and the two early 2000’s Onmyoji films]. The books don’t seem to have been officially localized, and I haven’t found a fan translation, so I decided to give it a try. I am very new to Japanese and am still learning as I work on this project, so please let me know if you find anything that is incorrect or needs edited. I have no idea when I’ll have time to continue it, but I hope to at least finish the first book. Do you accept guest translations, so to speak? I’d like to translate one of the later Onmyouji stories for some of my friends, but I have nowhere to publish it so that other interested people might actually find it. I don’t need to be credited or anything, and I can provide the necessary footnotes as well. So if it’s alright, please let me know what your policy is.

Thank you for all of your work with translating this. I'm new to the Onmyoji stories. I first watched the early 2000s movies (Onmyoji 1 & 2), then the 2023 Netflix anime series, and also a movie made in China based off of these characters (Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity). These shows got me interested in not only these characters (including the real people who existed) but learning about Heian era Japan. So it's been really cool to find and read this translation from the original novels that started it all. So thank you again for this translation, I really enjoyed reading it.
